1. Alliance between Hyundai group and Apple
Apple is investigating automobile maker to take alliance for apple car manufacturing. One of these candidates is Hyundai group (Assembly is Kia). But they have had a cautious attitude.
Apple is close to finalizing a deal with Hyundai-Kia to manufacture an Apple-branded autonomous electric vehicle at the Kia assembly plant in West Point, Georgia according to multiple sources who briefed CNBC on the plan.
The so-called “Apple Car,” which is being developed by a team at Apple, is tentatively scheduled to go into production in 2024, though people familiar with the talks between Apple and Hyundai-Kia say the eventual rollout could be pushed back.
Sources tell CNBC no agreement has yet been reached between the two companies. In addition, they stress that Apple may ultimately decide to partner with another automaker separately or in addition to working with Hyundai.
2. Future of Hyundai group
Hon-Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd, which have produced Apple products in China, had become a hot topic about suicides of workers due to a low wage and hard work. I think that Hon-Hai would have a negative effects for strong requests towards production requests and cost reduction.
Hyundai group also may not be likely to secure their profitability than they had thought by same strong requests. In addition, they may lose the ability to develop future automobile by becoming manufacturing company.
3. What kind of future Apple pictures
Apple car’s spec is assumed 160 mph top speed, 300-mile range, 80% charge in 18 minutes. I saw the article that they aim to develop full autonomous driving of last one mile, but 300-mile range is longer than I had thought. It is hard for me to see where they’re aiming.
There was a story that they had developed a battery by their self, so it is also hard to see how far they develop.
What is a reason and strong point and to develop full-autonomous driving and EV for Apple in competitors there are many automobile maker to develop it ?
Below sentence suits my feelings.
“The main reason Apple and other tech companies want to be in this business is due to the large amount of time future consumers are likely to spend in self driving vehicles using information services as they make their way from point A to point B,” Goldman said.
I’m assuming that the final goal is to embody a world view and sense of immersion like we’re in iPhone on full-autonomous driving. In order to achieve it, does they need to develop battery and autonomous driving control? iPhone also has merged successfully between hardware and software, so they will want to do the same things.
I have expected it more than autonomous driving automobile maker made.
